— CANTERBURY BOWLING CLUB, Both from a playing- and financial point of view, the past, season has been a very successful one.” states the annual report, of the Canterbury Bowling Club to be presented at the annual meeting on June 27. “ Our champion rink, skipped bv Mr J. A. Redpath, is to be congratulated cn winning the champion of champions competition this year,” continues the report, “as are also Messrs Anderton, I-larkess, Grange and W. E. Maynard, who were the runners-up at the Eaater tournament. “ The season closed with a roll of 87 playing and eleven honorary members, and as there, is ample, room for additions to these numbers, members are asked to induce a friend to join. Previous to the. opening day the Easter green was open for play to all bowlers at a charge, of one shilling each per afternoon, and the sum of £l4 3s wars collected. Jf weather permits it is intended to use it again as a winter green. “The western green, has been much appreciated, and we are now’ on equal terms with other clubs as regards length of heads. The green superintendent. hopes next, season to have it in a condition equal to am' in the district. The House Committee are to bo congratulated on the success attending the card tournaments, etc., as these have netted the sum of £35 7s lid Our wannest thanks are due to them for The time and energy they have devoted to the work, also to those gentlemen who presented prizes or gave donaThe balance sheet shows a credit of £SS 17s 3d.
