WATERFRONT TROUBLE.
MELBOURNE DISPUTE. By Telegraph.—Press Assn. — Copyright. Aus. & N.Z. Cable Association. (Received June 23, 10.30 a.m.) MELBOURNE, June 23. Further trouble occurred on the waterfront owing io the decision of the watersiders that their members would not load timber direct from- the vessels to the waggons, maintaining tha.t their duties implied only that they should stack it on the wharf. One of the vessels affected is the Kaitangata. which recently arrived from New Zealand. SUMMONSES ISSUED AGAINST UNIONS. (Received June 23. 10.10 a.m.) SYDNEY, June 23. The vacancies cn.used by members of the crew of the Esperance Bay handing in their notices were filled without trouble. As the articles do not expire until the vessel returns from Brisbane early in July it is thought that a deadlock will then occur. The attitude tlie Commonwealth Line intends to adopt will be made clear this week, when a crew will be called for to man the Fordsdale, which is due to sail for Britain on Saturday An unexpected development occurred concerning tho holding-up of the steamer Hunter at Morts Dock, when the unions concerned received summonses calling on them to show cause vby they should not be ordered to pay a penalty of £oCO for aiding and abetting on illegal strike.
