MRS RUSSELL FILM.
COMMITTEE PROTESTS. LONDON, April 24. That they disapprove of a film which tends to associate itself directly or indirectlv with a cause celebre affecting living persons is placed on record today by the Birmingham Entertainments Committee regarding “ Afraid of Love." the film of a novel by the lion Mrs John Russel. The committee saw and discussed privately the film which features Mrs Russell, and their resolution was worded : Resolved, that this committee, having seen the film, 4 Afraid of Love,’ which it appears is a film reproduction of a novel written by the lion Mrs John Russel], and having read and considered the. advertisement matter relating thereto, while expressing no opinion either for or against the exhibition in the City of the film, desire emphatically to place on record their opinion that it is undesirable and
against the public interest for any film to be advertised or exhibited which in its appeal to the public either directly or indirectly associates or tends to associate itself with a cause celebre affecting living persons.”
