WANTED—A TROPHY.

REQUEST BY GOLF CLUB. The Lake Coleridge Golf Club is in need of a trophy. At a meeting of the Selwyn Plantation Board this morning, a letter was received from the secretary of the club asking whether the board would “favourably consider the suggestion of making a small donation by way of a trophy for competition between members." It was stated that the club had a membership of about twenty-five, composed of the Public Works and power-house staff's, and they found it difficult to obtain any assistance in the direction indicated. The nature of the trophy was left to the discretion of the board. “What about the auditor?" inquired Mr G. Witty, M.P., after the letter had been read. It was decided to inform the club that the matter was quite outside the board s power.
