Floods greater than any experienced hitherto are sweeping across the lowlying country round the Nepean River and at Goulburn. The sears are still very rough, and vessels are unable to leave shelter At Goulburn the Wodondilly River is running a. banker and the police have been compelled to rescue isolated Quennbeyan, Bungendore, and Tcrago are also submerged in parts and the railway line for three-quarters of n mile over the Breadalbane plain is covered, but traffic is not yet affected. The river at the waterworks reached ft greater height than at any time during the last thirtv years. J. Davidson, the mad man. of Burra, left Quean bey an for the mails. Later, his horse and sulky were found in a creek. Davidson is missing, and it is believed he lias been drowned At Forbes, the Lachlan River has risen seventeen feet, and it is expected that the flood will be as great as that of 1923, when it rose to forty-two feet. The Nepean at Camden is twelve feet above the bridge, and is still rising ten inches an hour. All of the lower reaches round the town are inundated and rescue boats were kept busy all day on Sunday rescuing the unfortunate occupiers of homes there The latest reports from Penrith state that *tbe position there is ominous. 'l'be river is thirty feet above tho safety level and is rising at the rate of three feet an hour. The town is in danger as there is a tremendous flood and the cataract dam is overflowing four feet above the spillway into tho Nepeau. The Hawkeebury River is rising at the rate of three feet an hour, and it is feared that the flood will be immeasurably worse than that of a month ago. The bridge at Windsor is submerged to a depth of seven feet. Reports from up country .state that the river is still rising. Windsor is entirely cut off. The North. Richmond bridge is under eight feet of water at North Richmond, ancl Kurrajong is cut off The police are busily engaged warning residents on the lowlands and river banks. Large areas of country are submerged and telegraphic communication south of Goulburn is very shaky Tho meteorologist forecasts further heavy falls* ancl says the prospects of floods in the north-eastern district! are very pronounced.
