PROJECTED FLIGHT.
AMERICA TO HAWAIIAN ISLANDS. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Aus. & N.Z. Cable Association. WASHINGTON. June 20. The Navy Department has announced that the naval aeroplane flight from the Pacific Coast to Hawaii will probably start- on September 2. It has not been decided whether the start will be made from San Diego or Sau Francisco. Captain Stanford Moses, command--r i of tiie Aircraft Squadron of the Battle Fleet, will command the flight, the route of which will bo patrolled by ten vessels. The battleship Arizona, the aircraft carrier Langley, and the aircraft tender Aroostook. will be stationed GOO miles apart between the mainland and the islands for th' - ' purpose cf gathering weather observations. Sis destroyers will be scattered at ! 200-mile intervals in the gaps between the station ships, and two mine sweepi ers will patrol the route, j The delav in selecting the starting j point is due to considerable rivalry between San Diego and San Francisco for the honour. The Hawaiian Islands are about 2400 miles from San Francisco.
