Cyclonic conditions are ruling on the East Coast, according to the Government Meteorologist. The cyclone is of an extensive nature, and one of the worst experienced for years. Yesterday, it centred on Rockhampton, moving south. Heavy downpours have already been experienced in Sydney and along the coast. Flood warnings have been issued. Coastal shipping is affected. The Louis Theriault, bound from Newcastle to Tekopu, put in to Sydney for shelter. The outlook for to-day’s football is not bright.
BRISBANE, June 20. Torrential rain, accompanied by wind, which at times reached cyclonic force, caused considerable damage in Southern Queensland. Many houses were unroofed. Creeks and rivers are rising, and low-lying land is inundated.
