A BOY OF FLANDERS.

TO BE SCREENED AT LIBERTY. A part which is said to suit his talents to perfection has been provided for Jackie Coogan in “A Boy of Flanders,” a Metro production which will be shown on July 11 .at the Liberty Theatre. The film is an adaptation of the well-known story, “A Dog of Flanders.” by Louise de la Ramee, better known to the world as Ouida. “A Boy of Flanders” is said to be the most artistic and pictorially the most charming piettire that Jackie has ever appeared in. The scenes are studded with the lazy windmills of Holland silhouetted over the low, fiat land. Many scenes were taken in Antwerp, with its glorious old-world architecture, alive with hundreds of people moving about in the wide pantaloons and wooden shoes of Holland. In the midst of all this, Jackie clicks along in his wooden shoes and blooming trousers, gazing in wide-eyed wonder at sights his young mind can hardly grasp. The story is remarkable for the wealth of opportunities for comedy touches and characterisation. the human interest, the expertness of the acting and the beauty of the sets. A critic has said; “Jackie's role is exact)” right. As the vagabond boy looked down upon the Dutch tillage he does not Lave to make any pretence to dignity or reserve, but can be simply a fun-loving kid, feeling the scorn of the village keenly, but with the resiliency of } r outh, forgetting it

xvhen he feels like giving vent to the natural childish desire for fun. Aiding and abetting Jackie in most, of the fun is that wonderful Teddy, the Mack Sennett 'dog. Together the boy and dog experience the vicissitudes of life and yet get a lot of fun out of it. They are one of the greatest comedy and human interest teams of human and animal seen on the screen.’’
