SUM OF £460 IN NOTES. Tho Sydney city treasurer, Mr Solomon, found in his letter box one meriting recently a closed envelope on which was printed by band in ltomaa dharatfters tho following words!:— “Money owing io the City Council.” On opening tho envelope lie found inside three £.IOO notes, two £SO notes, one £2O note, and some notes of smaller denominations, making a total of £4.00. Mr Solomon said that ho could form no idea ns to who had sent the money. He could not; trace any item for this amount having been wiped off by the City Council as an irrecoverable debt.
