WAS HE DOPED?

ROYAL ROUE INCIDENT. BRISBANE CUP SENSATION. BRISBANE, June S. Detectives are at present investigating the alleged interference with Royal Roue on Tuesday night, on the eve of the Brisbane Cup. When Royal Roue appeared on the racecourse cn Wednesday he showed evidence of having been blistered on the right shoulder. A suggestion that the horse had been got at the previous night was soon floating about. Though he moved freely in his preliminary, and ran well for about a mile and three-quarters, he eventually finished last, with Dane John. A sensational story is published this morning concerning the horse. "Sirdar,” in the "Daily Mail,” declares that he visited the trainer Stanton’s stables yesterday, before the races, and found Stanton very cut up. "Sirdar” says Stanton was of the opinion that the intruder must have been disturbed, and only half blistered the horse. Mr J. Washington Irving, Y.S., was called, and expressed the opinion that a mild blister had been applied. "Sirdar” adds that the owner, Mr J. M. C. Forsavth, who was present, was very much upset, and offered a rewart 1 of £2tX) for information that would lead to the conviction of the person who had interfered with Royal Roue.
