The Banks Peninsula Racing Club’s meeting will be held at Riccarton on Saturday, and it looks like proving a great success. The acceptances are more than satisfactory, very few of the horses originally nominated having dropped out of their engagements. As a result there will be good fields to provide some very interesting sport. The Motukarara course being under water, there was no chance of racing there, and the change to Riccarton should assist the club to a record meeting. J. Al'Combe will have three horses racing at Riccarton on Saturday. They have all been going well in t.h,eir work lately, and the f&ct that they are so forward suggests that they will be required for racing soon after their arrival in Sydney, in the event of M’Oombe making his contemplated early trip there. Serotina, who figures among the acceptors for the Ilalswell Handicap on Saturday, is a three-year-old sister to Owlscombe. by Autumnus from Glenowlet. This will be her first race. There are thirty-four acceptors for the Ellesmere Trot Handicap to be run over a mile at Riccarton on Saturday, sixteen of them being on the limit. The big course will be an advantage, as it will give them plenty of It is understood that S. Walls will do the riding on Carawock at the Napier meeting this week. This probably means that. A. E. Wormald hadecided to relinquish riding over fences. He was a s real artist in the saddle, but increasing weight restricted his riding opportunities, and now he has a team of horses in bis stable at Riccarton to fully occupy his attention.
