The Labour caucus elected Mr James Dooley Speaker of the Assembly. Mr Lang, the new Premier, announced that he agreed with day sittings of Parliament and no time would be lost in giving effect to the proposal. His idea was that Parliament should assemble at two o’clock in the afternoon and that no sitting should extend beyond eleven o'clock at night.
