DISPLAYING THE RESULT. ARRANGEMENTS BY “ LYTTEL- ' TON TIMES." The result of the Franklin by-elec-tion will be displayed prominently outside the “ Lyttelton Times ‘ ’ and “Star” office in Gloucester Street till, evening. | The poll will close at six o’clock, and arrangements have been made to receive progress returns. It is expecte i that the final result of the election will be received in Christchurch shortly after eight o clock. There are fortv-two polling places in the electorate. There are only two candidates for the seat, Mr E. IX M Lennan (Reform) and Mr J. S. Montgomerie (Labour). At the general election in December, 1922, the late Mr Massey polled 5276 votes and Mr J. Rea (Liberal) 2520.
