PRICE OF WHEAT.

ANOTHER CONFERENCE CALLED. The question of wheat prices was discussed at the monthly meeting of the ALd-Canterbury Executive of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union at Ashburton yesterday. The president, Mr John Brown, presided over a good attendance. The president stated that ue meeting had been called as the outcome of the recent conference with the millers in Wellington with regard to the wheat question. They had promised to put the position that had arisen as the result of the conference, before members of the union, and advised them to accept the prices agreed upon. Air J. Carr, who attended the conference, outlined what had taken place at tho meeting. He had been approached by seveivl farmers as to the best course to pursue, and he advised them to sell. The president said he considered they had made a good deal. If they wished to have a further gamble they could do so. It had been suggested that Ashburton should be the centre of a further meeting between the growers and millers to decide the prices of wheat for the next three years. The millers would like to see the prices arranged for a period of years. Next Thursday bad been suggested as the most suitab'e date. He had taken it upon himself to invite the chairman *>f the Wheat Board to the conference, and the exrcut've delegates would be better primed with facts upon the cost of production. He still considered that a marketing association should be formed, for it was just as important to growers of other farm products that their interests in the disposal of their produce should be I catered for.
