WEDDINGS.

PAYNE—WOOD. At St John’s Church, ltangiora, on April 22, Elsie, the elder daughter of Air and Mrs G. H. AYood, of Church Street, Rangiora, was married to Air Herbert Payne, of Soutlibridge. The Rev J. F. Feron was the officiating, clergyman, and Mr Thompson presided at the organ. The church was beautifully decorated with white Michaelmas and white chrysanthemums by friends of the bride, a feature being a. beautiful floral wedding bell which hung over the bridal party during the ceremony, and afterwards" at the wedding breakfast. The bride, who was given away by l her father, wore a beautiful gown of I ivory crepe de chine with radium lace j sleeves and tiny Y-shaped vest, and prettily embroidered with silver leading, over which she wore an embroidered veil held in place by a coronet of orange blossoms and tiny pearl ornaments at each side of her head. She carried a shower bouquet of white flowers and maidenhair fern. Two bridesmaids attended the bride, Miss Dorothy Nicholl, of Burnham, cousin | of the bridegroom, and Miss llhoda j Forbes, cousin of the bride, tho former • wearing a pretty frock of pale blue crepe de chine, and tho latter pale pink. Both dresses were made with frilled side panels, with which were worn shoes and stockings to maten. They also wore pretty embroidered veils attached to bands of leaves, round their heads, the bands also toning with their respective frocks. Their bouquets ! were of deep cream chrysanthemums j and ma i den alii r fern. Mr Payne was ; attended by Atr Orchard, of Ohoka, i as best man, and Air Kent, of Southbridge, was groomsman. Alfred Metcalfe, son of Airs Metcalfe, of St Albans, Christ el lurch. The bride, who was given away by her brother, Mr J. Carrell. wore a beautiful dress of ivory brocaded crepe dc chine made on straight lines and finished at the waist with orange blossom. Her veil was worn with a coronet of silver lace and orange blossom, and she carried a. lovely bouquet of white flowers and maidenhair fern. She was attended by two bridesmaids, Aliss Frances Carrel 1 (sister of the bride) wore shell pink brocaded satin made with an overskirt effect and finished at the waist with hand-made silver roses: the pale pink tulle veil was held together with a wreath of silver \ leaves. Miss Inga Hempstalk wore I eau de nil brocaded satin made on similar lines, with a veil of tulle to match, and silver leaves. Both inaids carried bouquets of hothouse flowers and maidenhair fern with pale pink streamers. Air Dawson attended Hie bridegroom as best man. As tho bride left tho church she was presented with a white horseshoe. Air A. A. Swaby presided «t the organ. The reception was held at the Alasonic Hall, which was prettily decorated for the occasion. The guests were received by Mr and Mrs J. Carrell, Otira. The usual toasts were, honoured. Later Mr and Airs A. Metcalfe left for the north, the bride wearing a coat frock of fawn trimmed with henna, and a becoming hat to iotie. INCH—HARRIS. A w edding of much local interest was solemnised at St David’s Church, Belfast, on Thursday lust , the contracting parties being Aliss Ivy Down, younger daughter of AJr and Airs E. Harris, “ Fair view,” Styx, and Henry Victor Inch, of AN aitolli, North Canterbury, eldest sou of Air and Airs AY. Inch, “The Terraces,” To Pirita. The church was beautifully decorated by friends of the bride. The Rev G. B. j Nanson officiated, and Mr F. Miller presided at the organ. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a lovely frock of ivory crepe de chine with an accordion-pleat-ed apron panel. Her long filmy veil, prettily hand-embroidered, was held in place bv a double band of pearls and orange ‘blossom. She wore a string of pearls, the gift of Uio bridegroom, and carried a pretty bouquet of white chrysanthemums and ferns. Aliss Harris, who attended her sister as bridesmaid. wore a pretty frock of peach maroeain with a black satin hat, aud carried a bouquet of bronze chrysanthemums and autumn leaves. She also wore a string of pearls, the bridegroom’s gift. AJr D. Inch, brother of the bridegroom-, was best man. After the ceremony. Air and Airs Harris entertained about eighty guests in a large marquee, prettily decorated with autumn foliage. Amongst the guests was Airs Tixch. grandmother of 5 the bride. Airs Harris wore a nigger brown gabardine costume, lightly braided, cinnamon brown hat, and carried a bouquet of scarlet geraniums. Airs Inch, the bridegroom’s mother, wore a mole maroeain frock, hat to match, and carried a bouquet of bronze chrvsanth.em.ums and autumn leaves. Later, when the happy couple left by motor on tlieir honeymoon, the bride coat frock and a blue velvet hat trimmed with French flowers.
