LEAGUE NOTES.

TO-MORROW’S GAMES. (By “THE JUDGE.”) It will be blacks, blacks, blacks, opposing greens, greens, greens, at Monica Park to-morrow when the IJoinby and Marists teams clash. The south suburbs players, though on the youthful side, will field an improved team to that of last season. Linwood have the makings of a serviceable team. Though tlie eastern suburbs thirteen are up against strong opposition to-morrow, their youths should make the pace lively in the forwards. Both the Marists and Hornby teams will field strong forwards. From the physical point of view each pack will gladden the eye of its supporters. Speed, weight and huskiness are the outstanding features oil each side. R. Henry, who will lead Hornby tomorrow. takes the eye as a fine type of forward. It is stated that he comes from a strong English team. Lathy and with a fine turn of speed and up to the finer points of the ■ game, he should be a capable leader for the backs. Woolston will field a serviceable thirteen this season. The royal blues do not expect to win the premiership; in fact they anticipate more defeats than successes. However, their team will come in time. Team building is the slogan of the Woolstonites. They arc looking forward to the day when they Will i lliliTU ‘ u occupy me champion ground which they now have in the district. E. Currie, a promising forwaru from the West Coast, will be in the Addington forwards to-morrow. A. M'Alpine, club captain of Sydenham last season, is now in the Inangahua district. He lias formed a strong Rugby League club there since he arrived. A keen enthusiast for the progress of the code is the genial Mac. J. Molloy. who played for Hornby last season, is in Auckland. It is slated that he will be playing for Athletics in the northern championship this .season. He will need to be more consistent than was the case last season to retain his place. It is suggested by proficient, supporters of the club that the Marists team would be well advised to play 11. Mullins in the centre backs this season. Most followers of the greens endorse the suggestion. Otto Noth ling, the crack New South Wales back, will not don the league jersey for Queensland this season. It is stated by a Sydney exchange that though the University crack had signed on for the Brisbane Grammar School Old Boys team in Queensland Rugby League, successful efforts have been made to keep him in Sydney. It is rumoured that the Marists A team to-morrow will include a back of whom a great deal has been heard of in local Rugbv circles recently.
