CHRISTCHURCH. (Before Mr 11. Y. Widdowson. S.M.) DRUXKEXXESS. A statutory first offender f.v drunkenness was fined 10s. in default tw:-»ty-tour hours’ imprisonment. TO PORT HALS WELL. Margaret M Dermott. who was charged with soliciting in Madras Street, admitted the allegation, but denied that she had been leading an habitually immoral life. “ I have been very ill.” she told trie Bench, “and it was largely drink that took me down there. J am 43#-, cars ot age.” The Magistrate said that he did not. hr-el. disposed to let the woman go. and she was committed to the Pert Halowell Reformatory for twele month:-. NO ORDER. John Bridgman, of Christchurch, retired, claimed from David Pctule, labourer, possession of a tenement in Antigua Street, defendant having pieviously been served with a notice winch terminated the tenanev. Plaintiff asked for judgment for £1 4s. being rent due to March 21, 1'.*25, and also judgment for rent at 12s per week from that date to date of judgment. The Magistrate refused to make an order for possession, but gave judgment l'or plaintiff for rent (paid into Court). Costs were entered against plaintiff. TO GIVE POSSESSION. John Mullaley was ordered to give possession of a dwelling to the Public Trustee on or before May 14. Costs were entered against Mullaley. CIVIL CASES.
