Twenty-four hours’ notice was given all employees at Walsh. Island by the management that this morning the compressed air hydraulic power crane power would be available, that employees would be expected to use this power. and that work requiring power would be allowed to be operated by hand. The men would either have to use the power provided or go home. Subsequently a meeting of engineers decided to refuse to work any machines greased or driven by men who were not members of the Federated Engine Drivers’ and Firemen's Association. The moulders decided not to work tf any workers other than the engine drivers were placed in the positions previously occupied by engine drivers.
