MORE ’BUSES COMING.
TWO WITHIN NEXT FORTNIGHT. Within the next fortnight the Tramway Board will have two more ’buses running on the streets of Christellurch. The new ’buses will not be the vehicles ordered from England, which are expected to be- adopted as the stood that they will be much more up-to-date and comfortable than any of the ’buses at present running in Christchurch. They will l>o equipped with pneumatic tyres, and the bodies will he of modern design, with low, convenient steps, a centre aisle and a roof sufficiently high to permit passengers to stand up instead of having to fiend down when passing along, as is the case at present. I lie eh asses of the ’buses ordered from England by the Tramway Board are expected to arrive shortly. The bodies are to he built locally, and seating accommodation will l>e provided for from twenty-five to thirty passengers. They will he single-deck ’buses only. These ’buses arc to be of the pay-as-you-enter type, but emergency exits will he provided at the rear end in case of fire or other trouble. The ’buses will be very similar to the type at prosent used extensively in England.
