The Lord Mayor in a statement regarding the proposed new powerhouse. saifl that he had formally asked the State . Government, through the Minister for Works, to co-operate with the City Council in regard to the supply of electricity lor the metropolitan area. In the event of a, refusal the council would proceed with the erection of the power-house in a. manner which would prevent the Government having the opportunity to refuse sanctioning the loan for the purpose.
