The Railway Department notifies in an advertisement in this issue that the excursion fares for the Christmas and New Year holidays will be at a lower rate than usual. The fares at the :*e duced rates will be issued on the South Island Main line and branches between December 17 and January 3 next. They will he available lor return until February 14.
