HOTEL LEASE.
ISLINGTON ARMS CASE. Mr Justice Adams to-day gave reserved judgment in John Bennett v. Jack Douglas M’Gregor. an action to recover £193 ls 6, deposit paid on a contract for the sale of the lease, license, furniture and stock of the Islington Arms Hotel hv M’Gregor to Bennett. The action was taken on the ground that M’Gregor had failed to obtain the lessor's consent to the sale to Bennett, and that the contract to The deenoe was that M’Gregor was ready and willing to carry out the contract, and that the verbal consent 01 the lessor was obtained under circumstances that satisfied the terms of the lease. His Honor found that the defence had failed and that, plaintiff was entitled to judgment with costs and witnesses’ expenses. Mr Sargent appeared for plaintiff, and Mr Sim for defendant.
