EXCHANGE OF VISITS.

MIR BRUCE AND EMPIRE PROBLEMS. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association ll " (Received December 10. 10.40 a.in.) MTJLB()UHN K, December 10. Referring to Mr Massey’s recent statement in which be expressed agreement with the views of .Mr L. C. M. S. Aniery that if Britain expected overseas Ministers to make periodical visits to London in order to consult British Ministers, the latter should be equally prepared to make journeys overseas, and hold conferences in various parts of the Empire. Mr Bruce, Common we alth Prime Minister, said he cordially welcomed not only Mr Amery’s suggestion hut Mr Massey's endorsement. He entirely agreed with the opinion that there was an urgent. necessity for some arrangement being made whereby more frequent conferences could ho held by representatives of the self-governing portions of the Empire without its being compulsory for the Prime Ministers of Australia and New Zealand to travel to London. If arrangements could be made for holding conferences in the different centres of the Empire, it would be quite possible to have more frequent consultations than has been found practicable in the Past-. Ho welcomed the suggestion for periodical visits of British Ministers, as only by doing that, could British statesmen hope to obtain first-hand information on the problems which confronted the different parts of the Empire.
