TENNIS.
UNION CHURCH CLUB. The annual meeting of the Union Church Club, Addington, was held on Monday evening last, the Rev R. B. Tinsley presiding over a large attendance of members. The secretary’s report showed the club to he progressive and increasing in membership, and to have an improved standard of play. The treasurer’s report showed a very satisfactory position. ;here being a credit balance of £3l. 17s Bd. The trustees’ secretary reported that a. section capable of holding four courts pad been purchased in Milne Street, and the contractor had made a start in laying dowr two courts, winch would probably be completed and ready for play by the middle of November, the club the meantime still carrying on with the present court. The election of officers resulted as follows:—President, the Rev R. B. Tinsley; vice-presidents, Messrs A. Hay, W. Atkinson. J. H. Jones. W. H. Down, sen.. E. Fehsenftdd, L. Morgan, N. Gerry, W. Bell; secretary, Mr J. L. Squire: assistant, secretary, Miss H. P. Hay; treasurer, Mr E. H. Smith; club captain, Mr S. M. Bell; assistant club captain, Mr E. H. Down; executive committee, the officers ant Messrs H. J. Down. F. G. Colechin, A. S. Beil, St. Clements and Misses D. Lockwood and R. M. Brydeu; match committee, Messrs J. I* Squire, S. M. Bell and E. H. Down; auditor. Mr 11. J. Down. Three resignations were received, while seven new members were elected. It was decided that the annual meeting in future be held in the first week in September in each year. It, was decided that the club apply for affiliation to the Canterbury Lawn Tennis Association. The opening day was fixed for Saturday, October 3, at 2.39 p,m.
