BALL AT MOUNT SOMERS.

The Mount Somers Memorial Hail has been seldom seen to better advantage than on the occasion of the Ladies’ Hockey Club “Song-title” and “Poster” Ball on Wednesday. The hall was tastefully decorated with tho club colours, blue and black, the stage being artistically arranged as a lounge. ! Mrs W. H. Morgan and Mrs John | Brown acted as judges. Music was i supplied by an orchestra comprising j two cornets, two violins. Kentucky | whistle and piano ; extras being playied by several others. Mr T. Moodie | was M.C. The Grand March, which i was led off by the president, Mrs Whelham, and Mr D. Stevens, conI sisted of about eighty couples. Supper ! was Tirettilv decorated with the club • colours. Cinderella flower dance and ! oilier novelty dances were held, tho : luckv spot wait 7, being won by Miss !E. Wood and Mr H. Drummond. Tho i prizewinners for the poster event were 1 Mrs S-efton-Hood (Barretts Ltd, Ashj burton), Mr L. Robinson (Roller Flour I Mills'), and for the Song-Title Misses I F.. Wood and G. Campbell (Two Little Girls in Blue), apd Mr Moodie ! (When Father Papered the Parf lour). Other costumes present were as i follow:- Mesdames Nell, Cadburvs . Ltd; L. Hood, Aulsebrooks Ltd: Bockley. Rexona Soap: Ed oar. Happy Jim: ! Doak, Three Leaved Shamrock : Miss©' E. Robinson. Twink : A. Becklev. Edmond’s Baking Powder ; E. Bishop, Ashburton “Guardian” ; R. Speed. Snowball Flour. L. Wood. “Yes, We have No Bananas” ; N. Hepburn and M. Hix, “You Can’t Play in Our Yard” ; Messrs Goodrich. Balloon Tyres; Breach, T.ittle Boy Blue.
