LONDON WOOL SALES. The Department of Agriculture lias received the following cablegram, dated July 14, from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London: — WOOL. Sales closed on Friday, July 11. five days earlier than advertised, on account of the unusually large proportion of wool being withdrawn. Prices have declined from par to 5 per cent for merino, and from par to 5 per cent and 7$ per cent for cross-bred slipe. Average closing- rates are:—6o to 6 4’s (merino). 2s 4d to 2b lOd; 56’s (super half-bred), 2s 2d to 2s 6d: 4S’s (.fine cross-bred). Is Gd to Is lOd; 44 to 46’s (medium cross-bred), Is 5d to Is 6d; 36 to 40’s (coarse cross-bred), Is 3d to Is 4sd. STOCK EXCHANGES. CHRISTCHURCH. Following are the latest quotations :
