A rigorous protest about the way in which matters political hare been conducted in the House and in the country during the past eighteen months was made by Colonel Allen Bell in the House last night. Colonel Bell also made his position as an independent clear as far as voting with the Government is concerned. “As one of tho youngest members of this House,” he said, “I hare not been pleased with the way things have been going on. I have heard a lot of blank cartridges fired in ail directions. I have heard the Leader of the Opposition call on the Prime Minister to- resign and I have heard the Prime Minister say he is prepared to go t-o tho country at once, but I have yet to find, sir, one member of this House who wants to see an election to-morrow, notwithstanding what has been said for the last eighteen months.” Mr Parry : Ycu are speaking for yourself.
