Thomas, speaking at the Advertising Convention banquet, said : “ We are not going to gauge the sue cess of the Empire Exhibition by the balance-sheet, but by the opportunity it has given millions of our fellow-men and women to understand what the Empire means, and, even more, by the chance given to millions of school child ren to obtain a better understanding of the Empire than they ever could from text books. 33
Mr Winston Churchill said: “After all, the Empire is only the model of what we hope the whole world will come to. though not under any single law. We hope some day the whole world will become related as harmoniously and quarrel as moderately as do the various States grouped within the circle of the Empire. 33
