As the result of deliberations by certain Ashburton County Councillors who are also chairmen of Road Boards. 243 miles of road 'are to be recommended to the Highway Council by the County Council delegate (Mr \Y. T. Dill) for purposes of declaration a.s main roads under the highway scheme. The roads in question are as follows:-—-From Rangitata bridge to Rakaia, via Hinds ; Rangitata bridge to the Gorge Bridge Road, via Mount- Somers; Ra kaia to Methven. via Barr Hill, Lauriston and Marawhjti ; Mainwaring Road, Rakaia ; Rakaia to Pendarves ; Ashburton, via 'Winchmore and Methven. to Rakaia Gorge: Beach Road; Seafield Road; Timvald, via Graham’s Road, to Longbeaeh Road; YVillowby Road ; Surveyor’s Road; Islesworth Road ; Bowcliffe School to Hinds ; Mayfield to Valetta; Timvald, via Maronan Road, to Anderson’s Corner ; "Maronan Road to Mayfield, via Lake more.
