LOVER’S GOOD-BYE.
SUICIDE FOLLOWS CHASE. LONDON. May 1. John Smith. a schoolmaster at Oxton. Nottinghamshire, climbed into his sweetheart’s bedroom, carrying a gun, and said : ‘' Come and say goodbye to me : I am going to shoot myself.” The sweetheart, a pretty girl of twenty screamed, and Smith jumped from the window. Neighbours gave chase and then Smith stopped, held up bis hand, and while nis pursuers halted, placed the muzzle of his gun to his mouth and blew off the top of his bead.
