MELBOURNE TRAM STRIKE. MEN REJECT SETTLEMENT. lly Telegraph—Press Association - Copyright Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. MFJ.BOURNE, May 13. The tram strike is stil] unsettled, the men, by an overwhelming majority, deciding against returning to work on the board’s terms. The meeting requested a conference of the union, comprising the transport workers’ group, to consider what action will be token. The tram sheds have been picketed in order to obtain the names of any unionists returning to work. It is now apparent that only immediate and firm intervention by the Arbitration Court will prevent farreaching complications. Cabinet has decided to uphold the Tramway Board in its policy of employing whom it wishes : without dictation.
