YOUNG MAN PLEADS GUILTY, Guilty," said Ernest Arthur Py croft (Mr Amodeo, aged twentv-soven, when charged at the .Magistrate’s Court with failing to account for eleven sums of money received on behalf of his employer, and thereby committing theft. Accused pleaded not guilty to one charge. The total amount of money was in the vicinity of £ls. James Smith said that defendant was in his employ a.t. Prebbleton, and went to Hornby three days a week and conducted the business there. Py croft was authorised to collect money on witness's behalf. Accused bad collected money and had receipted accounts, but had not paid the money over. On the r-harge to which Pycroft pleaded not guilty, no evidence was offered, and the rase was dismissed for want of prosecution-Senior-Sergeant Levin said that Pycroft started to work for Smith in August. 1023. and remained there until January. 1924. when he went, to work on bis own account. He bad been drawing £3 10s a week in wages. The charges came under the class of petty theft. Air Amodeo said that Pycroft took the money when he wa.s in a bad way financially. He was a married man with one child. Counsel asked for probation . The Magistrate (Mr Wyvern Wilson) remanded Pycroft until Friday for the probation officer's report.
