IMMIGRANTS ARRIVE.
FIFTY FOR KAIAPOI. C Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, January 12. The Suffolk arrived last evening with 371 assisted immigrants. The general health of the passengers during the voyage was excellent. Crossing the Atlantic a three montlis-old infant, John Henry Gordon, died. Of the nomwRted immigrants. Auckland takes 140, TT el ling ton 79, Lyttelton 78 and DTlnedln 20. Among the new arrivals are 50 persons hound for Kaiapoi. nearly 30 teing textile workers to be employed at the A\.aiapoi Woollen Mills. Proceeding soutTi among the women are thirty domestic servants from Scotland. Ten have situations. The Auckland immigrants compare very favourably with previous drafts, mere is a greater number of women than usually. The men are *ll of occupations, and the majority a»e of the artisan class. There are somj farm febourers and a few miners.
