WEDDINGS. Her bouquet was composed of autumn-tint-ed flowers and tulle streamers in niatc-n----ing shade. Mr W. Tyrrell was hest man. The ceremony was performed by the Rev Harris at Cambridge Terraco Methodist Church, after which the biide’s parents entertained a number of guests at BaUaritynehs. Mr and Mrs Seymour left the same •vening *or Wellington, en route to Otaki. where the honeymoon will be sneriT. ST JAMES’S CHURCH. Rev E. H. Shore, for the past thres years vicar of St James’s Church, left on Wednesday to take charge of the Anglican Church at Governor’s Bay. Her H. N. Wright, vicar of St John’*, Christchurch, enters on his work as vicar of St James’s on February 1. It* the meantime services will be conducted by Canon Galway and Canon Coatee. Owing to difficulty in obtaining relieving preachers during the holidays there will be no eight o’clock service to-morrow morning. SWIMMING. WHARENUI CLUBS AMALGAMATE A special general meeting of the Wharenui Ladies’ Swimming Club was held on Wednesday evening at Whareiitii School. Miss TL Brown, ffee club captain, preaided over a fair attendance. The special business before the meeting was to diacuss a proposal that the club should amalgamate with the ■Wharenui Amateur Swimming Club. After full discussion the secretary was authorised t o make a proposition in writing to the men’s club. The mat ter was considered by the W.A.S C. committee on Thursday evening, and the proposal was approved on tVie terms suggested by the Indies, viz. :--(!) That the ladies’ club has reasonable representation on the management commit toe ; (2) that the ••dies’ funds be handed over to the combined club ; (3) races to be arranged for the lady members; (4) a weekly club night for mixed bathing, when races will be held and coaching done : (o) the ladies’ secretary to become assistant secretary, responsible for collection of ladies’ subscriptions. Tt was also decided to ask (ho centre to approve of the addition of a Indies’ 50yds club handicap to the club’s carnival programme, and to obtain estimates of the cost of extending the dressing-room accommodation. The 75yds event in connection with the Challenge Cup was swum at the Coronation Baths on Wednesday evening. Saunders 2, G. Watson 3. PERSONAL. Mr L. Stanton, who has been secretary of the Wharenui Amateur Swimming Club for two season*, has resign. ed. At Thursday night’s meeting a resolution was recorded on the minutes expressing appreciation of his splendid services to the club. Mr G. S. Webb was appointed in his stead. It is unfortunate for the club that Mr Sargent, club captain, finds it impossible to continue in that position owing to pressure of work, and Mr A. L. Sur ridge, a member of the committee, will shortly be leaving the district to take up his residence in Haward^u. Mr S. Hardy, of Maxwell Sreet. has returned from an extended tour of the North Island. Old pupils of the Wharenui School are proud of the fact that one of their number. Miss May Speirs. has annexed the ladies' lawn tennis championship of New Zeeland.
