MAGISTRATE’S COURT.

CHRISTCHURCH. (Before Mr Wyvern Wilson, S.M.) THEFT. George Henry Johnson, aged seventeen. was charged with having stolen sums of 32s 6d. 8s and £B. Mr Connail appeared for tho lad. Chief Detective Cameron said the money had been taken from relatives. Accused pleaded guilty. Mr Connall said that arrangements had been made to have the youth placed with relatives in the country. He suggested that an order be made allowing that to be done. The Magistrate said the boy bad started badly. H© had started with larrikinism and bad now gone to theft. If he came hack on another charge of theft, he would have' to go to the Borstal Institute ioj a couple of years or so. Lundon, Leslie Petrie, Albert E. Rogers, Harry X. TayJor and Francis Vincent. The following were fined 10s :—Herbert J. Orchard and Oswald Fra ter. For leaving a motor longer than five minutes unattended the following were fined 5s: —Theo Beswick. Gonda E. Grigg, Sylvie Goss, William. M. Horton, William Thomas Lake, James S. Langford, Rhona Matson, Margaret Meares (Mr C. Hclme-3). Robert J. Murlev. Edward Poison. Ivy Steel Robson. Kathleen Sandston, Rose A. Shankland, and Mrs T. H. Stringer. For cycling on the footpath the following were fined 5s and costs: — Ernest Hancox. Thomas Hartley, Ralph Hunter, Wfillihm M ! Dowell, William Maclaine, John M«j>. Percy Sampson. Herbert Watson. David White. Gavin Wiseman, and Henry AVoodham. The following were ordered to pay 7s costs only:—Leslie Simmonds and John A. Brown. For driving motor:; at night without lights. George Binney was fined ss. Walter Hays 10s, William Patemnn ss, Simon William Rogers os, Ernest Smith costs 7s. Arthur Thompson 20>. Herbert F. Wait costs 7s, William J. "Williams costs 7s, and. Robin H. Church costs 7s. For driving at an excessive speed. Alfred R. B. Murray, who pleaded not guilty, was fined 40s and costs, and Joseph Oxley was fined 20s and costs. For pillion-riding, Horace Dyer was fined os and costs. ,
