Williams, wife of Mr T. S. Williams, of Alillerton. died in the Duller District Hospital on Tuesday. Mrs Williams had been in ill health for a long time. She was a native of Hokitika and daughter of Mrs Johnson. She was forty-one years of age, and had resided in Millerton for twenty years. SO NEAR AND YET SO FAR. Rome of the old men and women who made the journey to Hokitika yesterday to Attend the jubilee oelebrations had not been there before, although they had lived from forty to sixty years on the West Coast. The wedding was Holemniced at the Selwyn Street Methodist Church, Christchurch, this afternoon of Annie, only daughter of Mr and Mrs G. Bent, Sydenham, to David Henry, son of Mr and Mrs S. Hazeldine. Greymouth. The Rev R-. B. Tinsley officiated. Mise Ivy Soott, New Brighton, at bended thej bride, and the best man was Herbert Taylor (St. Albans). After the ceremony the gueet-s were entertained at the house of the bride’s parents, after which Mr Rnd Mrs Hareldine left for the North Island. PERSONAL. Colonel G. Barclay, secretary of the Masonic lodges, and Mrs Barclay arrived in Greymouth this afternoon. They proceed to Karamea accompanied hy the Hon and Mrs H. Michel tomorrow. At the University examinations held in November last Mr E. A. Malloch, of the Greymouth Public Trust Office, was successful in the following accountancy subjects:—Auditing, trustee law and company law. WEST COAST SCHOOLS AND TEACHERS. West Coast schools are apparently not as attractive a proposition to members of the teaching profession as other parts of the Dominion. Applicants for the vacancies are few and far between, and the Greymouth Main School Committee has not yet been able to secure a permanent successor to Mr J. F. Wilson, who resigned in order to accept the head mastership of the North Brighton School. CRICKET. The Omoto Cricket Club proposes to send a team to Christchurch in about three weeks’ time. Three matches against Christchurch clubs are being arranged, and the coasters also intend to witness the test .match.
