A sale of home made cakes, sweets and pies will be held in Hereford Court to-morrow morning in aid of Lewisham General Hospital Fund. Art union tickets are obtainable at ths Hereford Court Depot. Sir George and Lady Fenwick, Dunedin, intend leaving on a trip to the Old Country by the Alaunganui which is due to leave Wellington for San Francisco on January 29. They will spend some time in Southern California en route to Great Britain. Air and Airs George Kerr, Timaru, have booked passages by the M&kuta. sailing from Auckland during February. They purpose proceeding to London across Canada by the C.P.R route and intend being on tour in Great Britain and the Continent of Europe for about ten months. Aliss Eileen Clifford, of Lower Hutt, Wellington, who is well known in Australia and New Zealand for her charming theatrical work, is studying singing at the Royal Academy of Alusic, and preparing a repertoire of songs at the piano, for which uhe is showing an exceptional gift.

Airs and Aliss M’Rae Peacock are among the recent arrivals at the Clarendon Hotel. Mr and Airs Aiiscp, of Auckland, left Christchurch this morning by car for Nelson. Airs Frank Robson, Sydney, who has been visiting relatives in Christchurch, went north last night to join the Uliinaroa for Sydney.

SMITH—GRAHAAI. The wedding was solemnised on New Year's Day at St Peter’s Church, Springfield, by the Rev C. L. Sparrow, of Miss Evelyn (Evie) Graham, and the daughter of Airs E. Graham, and the late Air Phillip Smith, eldest son of Mr and Airs Albert Smith, of Ruskin Street, Spreydon. The bride, who was given away by her uncle. Air S. Chesterfield (Foildln£)j wore a pale cream crepe de chine gown finished with pearl trimmings and embroidered veil of tulle, with a wreath of orange blossom. She carried a pretty shower bouquet of white roses, sweet peas, carnations artel maiden hair fern, ifinished with tulle and ribbon streamers. The bride was attended by Aliss Eileen Smith, sister of the bridegroom, who chose kingfisher blue satin marocain with hat to match and carried a bouquet of lemon roses, carnations and maiden hair fern finished with tulle and ribbon streamers. The little flower girl, Thelma Chesterfield, cousin of the bride, wore a . frock with an overskirt of silk cire lace, and a wreath of pale pink flowers around her hair. She carried a little posy of pink roses and sweet peas with pink ribbon streamers. Mr Harry Smith, brother of the bridegroom was best man As the bride left the church she was given a floral horseshoe for good luck. After the ceremony a reception was held at the residence of the bride’s grandfather, Mr W. Chesterfield, where the usual toasts were honoured. The marriage of Sybil, younger daughter of Airs Sutherland. Riccarton, to Mr Harry Ala son. of Timaru, took place in the Clarence Road Alethodist Church recently. The Key E. D. Patchett officiated and Miss Eva Townsend presided at the organ. The bride, who was given away by her brother-in-law, Mr L. Orchard, wore a frock of white crepe de chine and silver lace. The veil was worn mob cap style with sprays of orange blossom. She carried a shower bouquet of white flowers. The bridesmaid, Miss Connie Clark (Belfast), wore a frock of apricot georgette and radium lace and a hat to match, and she carried a shower bouqet of apricot roses The bridegroom was attended by the bride’s brother, Mr Roland Sutherland. A reception was afterwards held at Streatliani House, Dilworth Street, Riccarton, at the residence of the bride s mother, who received her guests. She wore a smart wine coloured silk marocain frock and hat to match, and carried a bouquet of roses. When Air and Airs Alason left by motor for the south the bride wore a daintjy three-piece costume of fawn gaberdine, shoes and stockings to match, and a small hat. Rickard and Withell, aa auditors, spoke on the report. Brother Withell said that all the funds showed an increase and one of the outstanding points was the reduction of the mortgage on the hall, which was very gratifying to the ledge.
