The Canopus was docked for her annual urvey this morning. ihe Komata arrived this morning from Timaru to load lor Wellington and Auckland. She will make her departure for the north this evening. The Kaiapoi from Portland via New Plymouth and Wellington, is duo on Saturday. Tho Corinmv from Timaru is due on Tuesday to load fyr Wellington, Nelson and New Plymouth. The Waipori from Auckland with general cargo is due on Saturday morning. She will leave the same day. for Dunedin. Ihe Opihi loads to-day and will leave this evening for Wellington, Nelson and Dtinedin. The Holmdale will load here to-day for Wellington and Wanganui. v Tho Turakina is due to-morrow from Wanganui to continue her loading. Tho Port Sydney from via Auckland and Wellington, is due at Port Chalmers on January 30 to complete discharge and to commence loading dairy and other product® for New York, Boston and Great Britain. The Britieh-India steamer Nalgora, whioh mailed frost; Calcutta on December 7 with cargo for discharge at Auckland, to ’the agency of the Union Company, left Singapore on December 18. The vessel was due at Fremantle about, the end of December, en route to Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney, Newcastle and Auckland. She is due at Auckland about January 2€. Sutton The Xew Zealand Shipping Company advises that there are a few additional passengers not included in tho list A VENTURESOME VOYAGE. A trim little 19-ton yawl—named the Seaweed slipped Quietly- into Sydney Harbour last month after a remarkable voyage from England. The yacht is owned and sailed by Captain Harold James Symonds, D. 5.0.. and he is accompanied by his wife, Mrs Phyllis Muriel Symond*. Edwin Malhuish. seaman. completes the ship’s company.

Mrs Symonds is a splendid sailor, and kept watch and watch throughout the voyage.

The Seaweed Is 56ft long, lift beam, and 7st Sin in depth. She is strongly built, and is flanked with teak and vawl rigged. She set out from England‘first of all on September S of last year, but heavy weather and gales met the venture, and finally a return was made to England. Undismayed by their rough experiences, a second start was made on June 11. The vessel called at Barbadoes, Trinidad, Colon and Panama. Balboa was left behind on August SO, and after visiting Galapagos and Marquesas, Suva was reached just 55 days 12 hours from Balboa. After a stay of about a week at Fiji the party set sail for SydSpeaking of the voyage, the captain briefly put it: ** To Galapagos it was tedious to Marquesas it was rough, and from there on to Suva and Sydney we had all sorts of weather, a slant of wind on the coast bringing the yacht to the Heads.” The most boisterous weather on the long trip tvas experienced between Suva and Sydney. This stage of th© journey occupied 18 days, during which chiefly southerly winds were met and the yacht was forced to heave-to on several occasions—at times for as long as fortyeight hours.
