The absence of large crowds jostling lor seate. the general manager states, was again noticeable. Tins is due to cars running more frequently than formerly, made possible by more track facilities being now in use. The increase in rolling stock also assisted. He is preparing a return showing New Year seaside traffic for the past fifteen years, which will show the increased accommodation now given to the public. Although traffic returns continue to improve. the competition of the petrol motor is becoming increasingly noticeable. Motor vans are turned into picnic cars on holidays, which, added to the largo number of private cars now in use. must have an effect on tramway traffic. .
