RINDERPEST OUTBREAK.
ENFORCING REGULATIONS. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. PERTH, December 21. The board combating the rinderpest outbreak has issued a warning against attempts to evade the regulations issued for the control of the disease, following upon receipt of a message that cattle owners in the Belmont area would not he responsible for what might happen when its patrols commenced mustering within a mile radius of the latest point of the disease contact. It is stated that a policy of resistance was agreed upon by the owners at a meeting as there are many valuable cows in this district, which will have to be slaughtered. Owners were informed by the authorities that, if necessary, the police would be armed in order that they might enforce the regulations.
NO SERUM TO BE USED.
MELBOURNE, December 21. The Federal Quarantine Department believes that the outbreak of rinderpest in Western Australia will be
stamped out without recourse to the manufacture of the serutn. which involves great danger as the living organism lias to be used in its manufacture.
