PAPANUI SPORTS CARNIVAL
Papanui's big carnival sports gathering next Saturday, December 29. will be something better than the previous best. Musio will be provided by the Papanui Orcheetra, which is well worth hearing. Jnet to sit under the fine trees of the Papanui Domain and picnic (hot water will be provided) and listen to this music would mean a day well spent. A fine sport* programme will be provided, with amateur and cash running events, and cycle raoes. There will be a number of Highland events for good prizes, and the Caledonian Pipe Band will bo in attendance. This band will lead the procession of decorated motor-cars, side-cars, bicycles, etc- Prizes are also given for the best decorated costume for girls, also for boys, while tho most original decorated turnout, whether wheelbarrow, or push-cart, will also carry a prize. The side shows will include Aunt Sally, hoop-la, box ball, balloon bursting, and motor-car tyre football. There will be a- baby show, and all manner of novelty events, for which post entries will be received. A good afternoon tea will be provided by the ladies’ committee, who are also catering for the enjoyment of the smaller children.
