THE CARE OF BLANKETS.
ihis is a good tim© for overhauling blankets and preparing them for the cleaner or laundry. When they show signs of wear they should be neatly darned with wool of the same colour. Holes may be patched with a piece of old blanket. If the sides are ragged trim them with a pair of scissors and work the edges over with blanket stitch, using wool the same colour as the ends of the blanket. PROLONGING THEIR USEFULNESS Old blankets may be utilised in many ways. Large ones can be cut down to make coverings for smaller beds or mattress-blan kwts. If they have become very thin they can be folded double, and the two edges should then be button-holed together. Several pieces of the same size, no matter how thin and worn, if tacked together, covered with cretonne and quilted, will make warm cot covers. Odd lengths are useful for washing oaint and for making floor cloths, and some should be set aside for patching
