WANGANUI WOOL SALES.

LARGE QUANTITIES OFFERING. N y (Special to the “ Star.”) WANGANUI, December 14. Wool has been passing into Wanganui in large quantities in anticipation of the Jaaixiary sales. So great was the amount received that the local brokers applied to the central committee for an allocation of 32.000 bales for next sale. Now- they have been advised that the limit of 20,000 has been fixed, Wellington intimating that the object is to avoid overloading the market at any particular sale. At last month’s sale the amount auctioned was 12,500, no limit being placed on account of the quantity coming forward not warranting the restriction. The chairman of the Harbour Board views the limitation with some concern and this morning 110 despatched a telegram to the central committee also to the Minister of Agriculture and other persons interested, emphatically protesting against the reduction, considei--ing that it was unfair treatment, which would penalise severely the wool growers of the district who would be debarred from receiving the advantage of the higher price while the demand was good.
