Mrs J. Murray is visiting friends in Dunedin. Mrs do La tour. Christchurch, is with Mrs Winter, Avenue Road, Timaru. Mr and Mrs W. O. Campbell have returned to their homo in Fendalton. Mrs TL Jamieson has left for Dunedin, where she will spend a short holiday before going north. Mr and Mrs J. F. Studholme. Fendalton, will leave to-day for a visit to the North Island. Mrs L. Waters is spending a short holiday at Akaroa. and is among the guests at “Ilfracombe.’’ Miss Alice Evans. Timaru. will go To Invercargill to-morrow to stay with her sister, Mrs B. Caws, for a few days. Mrs Harrison. Christchurch, is with her daughter, Mrs R. Turnbull, Beverley Road, Timaru. Mrs R. W. Jenkins, who was the guoet of Mrs F. T. VTashbourn, Timarn, returned to Blenheim on Monday. Mrs John Brookes, Nelson, is staying with her mother, Mrs W. Elmslio, Timaru. Miss F. A. Pilliett, Timaru, intends to leave next March by the s.s. Remuera for England. Alias Lily M'Laren, who was with the Misses AVoollcombc, went to Dunodin on Saturday.

Dr Tmby King, who was passing through Christchurch yesterday morning, met the Archbishop and members of the House Committee of St Saviour's Baby Home which will be opened at Sumner in the early part of next year, i He congratulated the guild, and wish-; ed them success in this new movement, and stated that it would fill a longfelt want. On Tuesday evening the Avonsids Nursing Division held their annual social in the Navy League Hall. During the evening Alajor Gray gave a a address in which, on behalf of the members of the brigade, he thanked Dr C’rawshaw for his work with the Sc John Ambulance. Games and dancing occupied the evening. The following items were given:—Duet, Alisses Fer ver and AA'aldon ; recitation, Dr Crawphaw. Amongst those present were : Dr and Airs Crawsliaw, Dr and Alias Borne, Mesdames Aliddleton. Bishop. Pyne, Cordy, Price, Smith and Beceonsall. Alisses Alunro, Cooper, Lack. Don. M’Callum and Edmonds, Messrs E. Gray, Aliddleton. Clements. Brown, i Osborne and Alajor Gray. The Selwyn Nursing Division of the : St John Ambulance Brigade held its annual meeting on Tuesday evening, Dr F. J. Borrie, divisional surgeon, presiding. Afrs H. H. Smith, lady superintendent, read the annual report, in the course of which reference was made to the loss sustained by the division in the death of one of its members, the late Mrs Puddle. The competition squads were congratulated on the successes gained by them locally, at Timaru and at Wellington, and the thanks of the division were tendered to all those members who had helped to make the year 1923 so successful, particularly to Dr Borrie, for his services as divisional surgeon, to Airs Bell. who was in charge of supplies, and to Miss Donn, for her untiring efforts in competition work. were then adopted, the election of officers being deferred till the first meeting in 1924. The evening concluded with presentations to Mrs Smith and Dr Borrie, made by Miss M’Callum who. on behalf of the members of the division. expressed their appreciation of and gratitude for the work both had done for the division during the year.
