Twenty bandits swept the town of I Spencer, Indiana, early in the morn--1 ing. They blasted tho safes of two banks, and escaped with thirteen thou- : sand dollars into the Kentucky hills. They drove into Spencer in automoi biles, captured Vaughan, the chief of i police, locked him in the City Hall, j and cut the telephone wires, while i others, using high explosives, badly | wrecked the bank buildings. Tho bandits fired upon and wounded some of the residents when making their dash from tho town after the , raid.
