A series of competitions has beer arranged for this year’s Christmas number of the “ StaV ’ The competition* will cater for the story writer. th* poet (senior and junior), and the pboto.graphic artist. The subjects of th* competitions and the prizes offered ar« as follows : 1. ORIGINAL STORY, not to exceed 2000 words. First prize £5 s*. second prize £3 3s. 2. ORIGINAL POEM subject *‘ A Canterbury Rummer.” First prize £3. second prize £2 3. CHILDREN*S POEM, any object. open to children under 14. First prize £1 le. second prize 15a 4 PHOTOGRAPHIC STUDIES re’ating to Canterbury. Subjects mnybs chosen from the seaside (yachting, boating or hathing), the Avon, the Port Hills, the farming district* or the mountains. The prints must be suitable for reproduction and not less than postcard size. Prizes £2 10s. £2, £1 10s, £l. Others accepted for reproduction 7s fid each. 5. BEAUTY COMPETITION. Original Photographic Portrait Study of Pretty Canterburv or Westland Girl. Must be posed and printed by amateurs. The name and address of tho subject of the portrait study must bo given. Prizes £3 3s each to winning photographer and lady, £2 2s each to second photographer and lady, and £1 Is each to third photographer and lady. The awards in all competitions will be made by the Editor of the Star** whose decision will be final. Entries will be received up to November 20. Each entr-r should be accompanied by a stamped and addressed envelope, for return if not accepted.
