WRITING COMPETITION.
FOR THIRD STANDARD. The fourth writing competition proloted by the ” Star ” is for Third Standard pupils in Canterbury and Westland schools. The competitors are requested to write the following verse jn ordinary writing or exercise book paper:— There was a jolly miller once Lived on the river Dee : He worked and sang from morn tiil night No lark more blithe than he. Competitors should mark their entries ‘ Writing competition. " and them to the Editor of the " Star.” Entries must be received by November 10. *ne present competition is open to aii Fourth Standard pupils in Canterbury and Westland schools. Prizes will be 10s. os and 2s 6d. The verse for the Fourth Standard competition closing to-day is:— How happy is he bom and taught, That serveth not another’s will; Whose armour is his honest thought, And simple truth his utmost skill. The result of this competition will be announced on Thursday next.
