BARONET’S WIDOW IN COURT.

Lady Dimsdale, widow of Sir John Dimsdale, was charged at Canterbury with attempted suicide by walking into tlie sea at Whitestalile. It was stated in evidence that she informed the police that she tried/to •drown herself. Her husband had previously committed suicide. The probation officer stated that he had secured employment for prisoner as kitchen maid at the Maidstone Girls’ Home. Counsel for the present Baronet, prisoner’s stepson, said that he was willing to assist her financially if she was willing to go to the Girls’ Home. Prisoner interjected: It is rather late for an offer after my experiences. Accused agreed to accept the work offered, whereupon she was discharged.
