A RAPID ADVANCE. An extraordinarily rapid advance in the wholesale price of bacon has taken place during the past few weeks, the increases amounting to fivepence a ]b. The matter is causing, some concern among grocers and the opinion is freely expressed that the increases have not been justified by tho prices paid for pigs at the markets. “Tt is quit© time the Board of Trade looked into the matter and mad© a thorough investigation of the bacon position,” said one- grocer. He added that the bacon eurers seemed to be able to do just what they liked and the public were not getting a fair deal from them.
