DISCUSSED BY ECONOMIC CONFERENCE. By Telegraph—Prose Association—Copyrlgrtit Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. LONDON. October 24. The Economic Conference dealt with the interim reports of several committees. It was the intention of Mr Massey to open the subject of an Empire currency, but as the sitting was near adjournment, he decided to defer the subject to a later meeting, when it is expected that a committee will be appointed to report on the question. The Committee on Commercial Facilities furnifihed an interim report dealing with the commercial intelligence service, travellers’ samples, trade catalogues and price lists. Tt recommended the conference to welcome the offer of the British Government to place the commercial and diplomatic offices at the service of the dominions. It- also recommended Empire Governments maintaining commercial representatives in any foreign country to secure the closest co-operation between these officers, in the interests of Empire trade. A further recommendation was that travellers’ samples should be duty free, contingent -on re-exportation, and also that more elastic, provision should be made for the admission of tracie catalogues duty freo under defined conditions.
